I’ve been reviewing flat screen TVs and specifically plasma TVs since year 2000 when they first entered the market. Back then 95% were used in the commercial display market for board rooms and computer display needs, some were for stores.br /br /I expected great things from the top of the line Samsung plasma C8000 series and what did I get? In a word, satisfaction.br /br /The PN50C8000 represents the top of the line for Samsung’s 2010 plasma lineup and includes all the upgrade features such as 3D compatibility, the best picture processors, thin 1.4″ depth, great Internet options, and stellar picture quality.br /br /PICTURE QUALITY RATING 95/100br /br /Calibration Notes and Processing Testing: The Samsung PN50C8000 has very complete calibration options including white balance adjustment for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow in addition to the primary colors. The TV calibrated extremely well with a low error rate after adjusting white balance. With our HQV processor testing, the C8000 passed most tests with good to very good results from both standard definition and HD sources. Use the following picture settings to calibrate.br /br /Samsung PN50C8000 Post-Calibration Picture Settings br /Picture Mode: CAL-DAY br /Cell Light 18 br /Constrast 92 br /Brightness 57 br /Sharpness 0 br /Color 46 br /Tint G48/R52 br /Color tone WARM2 br /Size SCREEN FIT br /Digital Noise Filter OFF br /MPEG Noise Filter OFF br /br /The Samsung PN50C8000 displays wonderfully balanced color information and uniformity. Images are presented in a clean and clear manner devoid of artifacts, with colors properly saturated. Colors may seem a slightly washed out and weak at first but further viewing reveals them to be extremely accurate and realistic while plenty saturated. We recommend leaving the Motion Judder Controller feature off due to unintended consequences in taking out natural background blur. However, with this feature off we did note some judder/jerky effects in side to side panning scenes – common with most all TVs due to difficulty in converting 3:2 pulldown.br /br /We were extremely impressed by the solid up conversion and accurate rendition of standard definition programming. We tested the C8000 with several standard definition sources which all revealed excellent processing and a superb picture. br /br /Brightness, contrast, color rendition and processing all appear superior to the lower end Samsung plasma TV models.br /br /3D TV Viewing: The C8000 and accompanying 3D glasses did a good job of pulling me further into the on screen images. It makes you feel more involved. I thought the picture presentation from the C8000 in 3D was very vibrant and accurate. I did not note out of focus areas near the edges of the screen as I did with the Panasonic VT25. There was some flashing effects from the 3D shutter glasses in situations where lamp light or window light interfered with the glasses’ receiver. br /br /FEATURES RATING 96/100br /br /Internet: Samsung has expanded the Internet lineup on the PN50C8000 to include Yahoo!, Netflix, Blockbuster, twitter, Facebook, USA Today, Pandora, Napster, You Tube, Google Maps, Daily Motion, and Samsung Apps which gives options on gaming and sports and other material. This is an impressive list of Internet options for the C8000 series, probably the most complete in the marketplace. Samsung is adding new options at a faster rate than many TV manufacturers.br /br /Design and Appearance: The Samsung PN50C8000 is a beautiful TV with less than a 2″ framing bezel and with many design elements including a clear neck on the chrome swiveling table top stand, a matte dark charcoal metallic finish on the bezel frame, sleek 1.4″ depth, and a dark black/purple screen. The heavy and attractive accompanying stand swivels to 20 degrees. 1) For the a price of 89 along with Samsung HT-C5500 Blu-ray Home Theater System and Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter, i felt its a good deal.br /br /2) One major issue what i felt most inconvenient, is the remote. if remote would have got a touch screen it would have been better while using internet applications.br /br /3) no screws were included for a wall mount fix. you have to buy them seperately.br /look into the manual for the screw size.br /br /4) The picture quality of was too good. i even read thru problems of led tv’s, esp samsung in some of the forums. i could not able to find the same atleast in the tv what i bought. (its been only 3 days since i recd tv)br /br /5) streaming of the netflix movies, youtube etc…. was good (on cable vision internet). br /br /Overall i feel that its a very good deal what i got. and i give a 5 rating.

I bought this stand for my new Samsung 67″ DLP. It is a beautiful and well made piece of furniture and my TV fits perfectly on it. I put it together myself (with a little coaching from my husband)in a couple of hours. I also bought a 5.1 surround sound system for my TV. All components including Playstation 3 fit very nicely except one thing. This stand has a center support that prevents you from placing the center speaker in the middle. I had to put it off to the side on the bottom shelf. My center speaker is quite large but a smaller one could be placed on an available stand that fits on top of the TV. This can be found on line at[...]A good product if you don’t mind your speaker being off to the side.

Although this Vizio cannot compete with higher-end HD televisions boasting 120 HZ and 1080p resolution, it was far the best performer in the price range I was considering, although I did shop around to find the best price. I consider this the largest set (32″) that can still deliver a crisp LCD picture with 720p/60HZ specs. You won’t notice the difference unless you already have a higher end television; even then, most people cannot tell the difference at this size. The picture is bright and sharp, particularly when using the “Vivid” picture setting. Set-up is mostly intuitive, although there was one hiccup, as I’ll describe later.br /br /Pros: price/value; crisp, bright picture; good remote; mostly easy set-up; 2 HDMI input connections, plus component, RGB, and RF; 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio; excellent picture with HD, DVD, or Blu-Ray input; you can use the included stand or hang it on the wall; sleek appearance.br /br /Cons: specifications that are becoming outdated; difficult to reach connections in the back of the set (connect everything before you put it in place!)br /br /The only momentary problem I had occurred when the TV wouldn’t pick up the cable channels. A quick look at the troubleshooting section of the handbook pointed me toward the manual tuning feature, which took five minutes or so to load all the channels. Because an Amazon reviewer recommended that owner use the retail setting for the best picture (instead of the Energy/ECO setting), I ended up with a picture that displayed Vizio’s advertised specs at the bottom. To get rid of the display, I had to select the Home setting — and I had to search for the channels all over again. (Note: as long as you select “Vivid” as your picture mode, you will get the brightness you saw at the store.) I found that 32″ is the perfect size for a bedroom, apartment, or other small to mid-size room. br /br /HD televisions really need an HD source to look their best, so if you only have a regular digital picture, you will see less than sharp edges, although the picture is still fine, especially from a distance. HD signals — whether from cable or satellite or Blu-Ray — really show up well on this set and are well worth the extra expense if you can afford it. Because manufacturers are selling fewer and fewer 720p/60 HZ sets, you should look for bargains, as many of these models are being discontinued and therefore discounted.
